What does a builders clean usually include?
A standard final builders clean (sometimes called a fine clean or handover clean) is detailed surface work after the messy trades have finished. On most houses and townhouses it includes:
- Construction dust removed from floors, skirtings, windowsills, ledges and reachable high surfaces
- Internal glass, mirrors and window tracks wiped and detail-cleaned
- Kitchen cabinets (inside and out where empty), benchtops, splashbacks, sinks and appliances exteriors
- Bathrooms and ensuites: vanity, shower screens, tiles, silicone edges, toilets and exhaust covers
- Doors, frames, switches, power points and light fittings dusted or wiped
- Cupboards and walk-in robes wiped out when empty
- Soft sweep or vacuum plus damp mop of hard floors; carpet vacuum where fitted
- Removal of light construction rubbish left in the clean zones (not skip hire or demolition waste)
Rough clean vs final clean — two different jobs
A rough clean is the first pass. It clears bulk dust, offcuts and floor debris so finishing trades can work safely. A final clean is the detail pass before practical completion or settlement. They are not interchangeable.

What is usually not included?
Scope exclusions protect both sides. Unless the quote says otherwise, a builders clean typically does not include:
- Fixing defects, paint touch-ups, silicone repairs or trade call-backs
- Exterior facade cleans, roof cleaning or driveway pressure washing
- Garden tidy, landscaping rubbish or skip bins
- Bond / end-of-lease cleans for tenanted properties
- Cleaning around active trades who will re-dust the same rooms
- High-rise facade or external glass that needs rope access or building-management plant
